-Born in Thailand to a Buddishm base family
-Both by dad and mom side are buddishm
-my grandmother on the mom side go to the temple-or wat every Saturday
-At that time I belived that buddah was a real person and till this day I still belive that he existed in history
-I my family are Theravada buddishm
we worship Buddah as a deity and his idea of peace
the Monks would preach buddah teaching of Four Noble Truth and the Eight fold path to enlightment
And tell stories of Buddah journey and his path of enlightment
I know that the original buddish teaching said that he wasn’t ment to be worshiped as a deity but i look at buddah more of a spritual teacher than a god
I imagined buddah as the light that would bring me to peace and enlightment
I go to wat(temple) atlease once every month when i lived with my grandmother
I celebrate with the people around me.
I moved away from my grandmother house when i was 6 that was when my mother remarried to my step-dad
My step-dad is originally a christian but as he grow up he become more of an Athiest
So christianaty dint really affect me
when i turn 8 i moved to teh United States
I quickly notice the Massived Christian Population in the United States
unlike christianity, Buddishm dint say that accepting other religion as a religion was bad
The idea of christianity dint really make me want to convert
In the United States when people asked me do i belived in god i said yes to prevent from any christian friends to try to convert me.
In my head i belived that jesus christ was just like the buddah
After i started to become to customed to the american life I learn to live by with out christianity and
Started looking at my childhood religion as a Pilliosophy rather than a religion since there wern’t many
Wat in teh US
How religion affect my socieity?
-In thailand Theravada buddishm have a profound affect on the way thai people are
-Thailand consist of 94% of buddishm people
-In thailand the other 6% percent consist of muslim,Chinese idea, and christianity
-Public schools in thailand are usually called wat rong lean or my translation temple schools
-This dont mean instate of learning the usually math science and socialstudies we learn about
-Buddah teaching
-It mean that it funded by the temple or wat and the govermetn
-In thailand wat or temples are everywhere
-I can promised you a fact that everywhere you look and everywhere you go in thailand you can find sign of buddishim
-Our culture is buddishm base
